As Muslims commemorate the end of the Holy Month Ramadan fast and prayers Nigerian leaders across the country have continued to call for unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians amidst the nation’s insecurity and economic challenges.
Notably among the leaders are the Nation’s parliamentarians,Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar has congratulated Muslim Ummah in the state and the nation at large over Eid-el-fitr celebration.
The lawmaker in a statement released by his media office in Kwara State capital urged Muslims to continue to use the spiritual rejuvenation of the month for atonement of sins, devotion and prayed for Almighty Allah to shower His Mercy on people and government of the day.
The lawmaker also thanked Almighty Allah for sparing our lives to witness yet another edition of Eid-el-fitr celebration which is a time for sober reflection, commitment to worship, showing affection to the poor and the needy while seeking favour and blessings from the Most High.
He said that adherents of the Islamic faith should use the special celebration to pray for the state and the nation and redouble their efforts toward contributing their quotas to the change mantra of the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
Similarly,Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content and lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Teslim Folarin on has extended his commendation to the Muslim community in the nation.
Folarin in his good will message sued for unity , stressing that the nation’s problems can be solved without disintegration.
Folarin, in a felicitation message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Com. Y.S.O Olaniyi, said that the festival of Eid-l-Fitr strengthens people’s belief in charity, fraternity and compassion.
Parts of the statement read:
“I felicitate with the entire Muslim Ummah in Oyo Central and by extension, Oyo State on the successful completion of 1442AH Ramadan Fast, and wishing you Allah’s immeasurable rewards for fasting. May Almighty Allah spare our lives to witness many more Ramadan in peace, good health and prosperity”.
“As we celebrate the Holy Occasion, I enjoin all Muslims and Christians to pray for peace, progress and unity of Nigeria. The myriad of problems confronting our country could be resolved without disintegration. Rather than going our separate ways, genuine restructuring is the panacea to our differences”.
“A united country cannot record any meaningful development without adequate security. Therefore, I am deeply saddened and very concerned about the heightened degree of insecurity in Nigeria and the attendant fatalities, tensions, fear and confusion being foisted upon the citizenry. It is on this note I am calling on the governments at all levels to redouble their efforts in protecting the lives and properties of Nigeria. Also, I urge fellow Nigerians to be vigilant and conscious of their neighbourhood with a view to discharging their civic responsibilities of assisting the law enforcement agencies to tackle the menace”.
Soliciting for peace , Senator representing Adamawa central, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed on her official twitter handle called for relentless prayers for the country.
She wrote “On the occasion of Eid~el~fitr, I felicitate with Muslim Ummah across Adamawa. I urge us all to maintain the Ramadan spirit of love, hospitality, compassion, peaceful coexistence and of course our relentless prayers for our dear Country”.
Eid-el-Fitr: Oriolowo call on Nigerians to Imbibe Spirit of Patriotism and Tolerance
On the occasion of the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr in Nigeria and across the world, Senator Adelere Oriolowo has felicitated with the muslim faithfuls and called on Nigerians to imbibe spirit of tolerance and patriotism.
In his charge to Muslim Faithfuls, the Senator Representing Osun West at the Red chamber in a statement through his Media office called for tolerance and respect in the nation irrespective of tribe, religion and political leanings, in the quest to build a strong and united Nigeria.
Speaking further, Oriolowo said “Despite numerous challenges in the country, hope is not lost”. “Only tolerance, stronger sense of patriotism and love for one another can help the country surmount her present challenges”.
He further congratulated Muslims on the Eid celebrations and tasked all Nigerians to use the season to promote national integration, saying “Eid-el-Fitr is a time of love and goodwill. It gives us a message to love all and hate none.”
Emphasising on patriotism and tolerance Senator Representing Osun West ,Senator Adelere implored Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of tolerance and patriotism.

Senator representing Niger East,Senator Sani Musa stated in his Eid al-Fitr message pointed out that peace is essential to the development of any country and urged citizens to keep praying and working for the peace and unity of the country and Niger State.
According to the Niger Senator, Nigerians should focus on the things that bind them together and eschew the issues capable of dividing the country.
The statement read in parts:
“ I enjoin all our Muslim brothers and sisters to draw enduring lessons from the holy month of Ramadan, which include personal sacrifices and self denial. I call on you to emulate the good virtues and teachings of Prophet Mohammed.
“I would also like to appeal that we all see beyond artificial divisions including ethnic and religious differences in our society and abide strictly by the teachings of the Holy Quran as propagated by the Holy Prophet Mohammed.
“Peace is essential to the development of any nation. We should all, therefore, continue to pray and work for the peace and unity of the nation.
We should focus on the things that bind us together, and eschew the ones that are capable of dividing us.
Lagos East Senator ,Senator Tokunbo Abiru harped on the significance of imbibing the virtues observed during the fasting period, the Lagos Senator in a Facebook post on his official page called for patriotic efforts to solve the nation’s problems.
He wrote; I enjoin all believers who obeyed Allah’s commandment to fast in the Holy month of Ramadan not to relent in demonstrating Godly virtues and eschew vices they avoided during the fasting in obedience to divine command.
The unprecedented challenges facing our dear nation demand bipartisan and patriotic efforts at rescuing the country from the cliff. This is the time to come together in unity to forge a national cohesion, tolerance and peace.
“I therefore implore us not to stop seeking God’s favour and guidance over the disturbing happenings in the country.
Expressing his hope for the youths in the country, Edo North Senator, Francis Alimikhena in a post sited on his social media account commemorated with the Muslims, Francis urged the youths in the nation to eschew violence and criminality stating that better days lie ahead for them.
He urged Edo North and the entire Nigerians and Muslim Ummah not to relent in prayer for peace,unity and love in Edo North,the State and Nigeria in general for the Almighty Allah to put an end to insurgency and insecurity which has been ravaging the whole country in recent times.
He wrote “I believe that development cannot thrive in a rancorous atmosphere ,urging the youths to be law abiding and shun any acts of violence and criminality that is causing so much harm in the society,adding that better days are ahead for the youths.
The Senator further urged the Muslims not to relent in prayers for the Almighty Allah to bring to an end the scourge of the “Covid-19 pandemic.”while assuring that the policies being put in place by the government and strict adherence of the various safety and protective measures as spelt out by the Presidential Task Force on COVID 19, will certainly end the pandemic
He further emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence between the Christians and Muslims to foster interpersonal relationships as children of God.
Member representing Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere federal constituency Hon. Hon Olusegun Odebunmi in Lagos state sued for unity, peace and love among Nigerians.
Olusegun Odebunmi, who is also the chairman House of Representatives committee on National Orientation Ethics and Values has congratulated the Muslims Umah on completion of 1442AH Ramadan and celebration of Eid-el-Fitri
Odebunmi tasked Muslims and all other patriotic citizens in the expectation that God Almighty will hearken to the supplications of the faithful and bless Nigeria more abundantly with peace and national prosperity.
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant Al-Maruf’ Yinka Ajibolu, Hon Olusegun urged Nigerians to continue to support the present administration of President Muhammad Buhari and to uphold the ideals of patience ,tolerance , perseverance humanity and self denial which were observed during the holly month of Ramadan.
On his part,Hon. Shina Peller, a member of the House of Representatives representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency, Oyo State, congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan fasting and Eid-al Fitri celebration.
Hon. Peller in his message as contained in a statement released by his media office, enjoined all to pray for peace in Nigeria.
The statement read in parts;
“I congratulate fellow Muslim brothers and sisters on the successful completion of 2021 Ramadan fasting, and on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr that is being observed globally.
“Importantly, as we celebrate this year Eid-al Fitri, let us remember to pray for peace to reign in our land; it is not enough for us to pray only, we must be ready to speak, act and relate with one another peacefully irrespective of our differences.
“Peaceful coexistence is required for us to progress as a country; there can never be development where there is no peace. We need peace in our land, and to achieve this, we must be tolerant of one another. Treat others the way you will like to be treated, and we will achieve a more peaceful society.
In his message Hon. Mansur Manu Soro Member House of Representative Darazo Ganjuwa Federal Constituency of Bauchi state called on Muslims to rededicate and commit themselves to the Holy Prophet’s injunctions of piety, honesty, charity and generosity to the less privileged, and true justice for all.
He noted that though the nation has made significant progress , it’s still faced with critical challenges. He disclosed the commitment of the lawmakers to work in synergy to overcome the challenges and establish a stronger, more united and prosperous community of our dreams that will meet the yearnings of our people.
