Abia State Chairman of the Orji Uzor Kalu Movement, OUK, Engr Agu Ndukwe Orji has said that the primary objective of the organisation is to espouse and promote the political philosophies of the former Abia State governor and senator representing Abia North district in the National Assembly, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu.
Engr Agu Ndukwe Orji, who spoke on the side-line of the emergency General Meeting of the organisation held weekend in Umuahia, the Abia State capital stressed that the essence of the meeting is to ensure that members are kept abreast and in the right frame of mind concerning the mandate of the group which is about Abia State and her leadership, as it affects the welfare of the common man.
“So, we are deeply involved in the Orji Uzor Kalu political philosophy and we believe in him and we are out to espouse his political ideologies especially as it is geared towards the wellbeing and welfare of the generality of Abia people”.
Responding to a question on the coming 2023 General Election in Abia and the preparedness of the All Progressives Congress, Agu Ndukwe Orji maintained that APC is a viable alternative, adding that the party is working hard to consolidate on its gains as well as deepen the trust of Abia people on the party. He pointed out that the APC is determined to achieve a change of government in Abia come 2023 because the PDP has led the state into a big mess.
Let me tell us that “without mincing words APC is a viable alternative and we are doing everything within our means to make sure we consolidate on our gains, and deepen the trust of Abia people to achieve a change of government in 2023, and we’ve resolved to do that”.
When asked on how he thinks the APC can succeed given the widespread disappointment of Nigerians with the leadership of the country, he dismissed the poser on the grounds that APC has done better that the PDP on a fair assessment.
Said Agu Ndukwe, “It depends on where you are coming from, on a fair assessment I can authoritatively and reliably tell us that APC has fared better than previous PDP administration. You know I was once in PDP so I’m in a better position to weigh the options and tell you which one has impacted more on the lives of Nigerians.
“Then to Abia State you will also agree with me that that is why I find it difficult to understand why people will begin to talk about lesser evils when they are deeply involved in bigger mess. If we must talk about political leadership of this country, I must tell you that I’ve facts available to show that APC in six years has done better than PDP in sixteen years, the facts are there for everybody to see.
“We may not claim to have done 100 per cent but it is still work in progress, administrations have their challenges, the security issues we talked about, the economic ups and downs are part of the teething challenges bedevilling this administration, but I can tell you going by the determination of the president and his team, it would soon become a thing of the past. It didn’t start with him, during Goodluck Jonathan they were there and we are believing God that Buhari will not leave Nigeria worst than he met it, he is putting in efforts…”, Engr Agu remarks.
