Former Presidential aide and author, Reno Omokri, has blamed IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, for going to Kenya where he was arrested and whisked back to Nigeria.
Omokri berated the IPOB leader for travelling to Kenya, a country, according to him, that is notorious for body-snatching.
Speaking in an interview with Reuben Abati, Omokri suggested that Kanu should have learned one or two lessons from him (Omokri) having successfully stayed away from Nigeria since 2015 when Muhammadu Buhari became President knowing that the government will be happy to arrest him.
The former presidential aide, therefore, absolved Buhari of any blame for Nnamdi Kanu’s arrest because, according to him, the President had never hidden his tendencies towards achieving it.
“I established it. I was the first person to come out and say he was intercepted in Kenya. I spoke with the British Government officials and released the statement that he wasn’t arrested in the United Kingdom but was intercepted in Kenya,” he said.
“I think that Nnamdi Kanu… you have to understand.., I have to be very very objective, IPOB members sometimes used to be very above board with their insults and attacks…. I have helped promote freedom fighters all over the world but I believe that Nnamdi Kanu showed extreme indiscretion by going to Kenya.
“You know he has responsibility for his own arrest. He showed extreme indiscretion for going to Kenya. The Kenyan Government is notorious for body snatching.
“They have a reputation for doing this. So for somebody like Nnamdi Kanu he showed extreme indiscretion…IPOB members, please don,t come and start attacking me, use your common sense.
“I mean, this man, he showed extreme carelessness. Let me give you a very good example of myself. I’ve committed no crimes but I do know that Muhammadu Buhari will be very very happy to get me.
“As a matter of fact, when my book became a bestseller, my younger brother who looks exactly like me was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. So I’m very very careful.
“In 2019 I travelled to 29 different countries but I used discretion in choosing the type of countries I visited. In this I will not blame the Buhari administration because I know he had such tendencies …there was a precedent and Nnamdi Kanu was just being careless.”
