Police Uncovers Robbers Hideout In Bayelsa, Arrest Four

The police in Bayelsa State have smashed a suspected armed robbery gang and arrested four persons in Yenagoa, the state capital.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Asinim Butswat, who made this known in a statement on Wednesday, said the operation was carried out by SWAT operatives following a tip off.

Butswat, a Superintendent of Police, said the operatives stormed the criminal hideout on Ebisam Road, Yenagoa, on Tuesday about 5:pm and arrested the four suspected armed robbers, who were allegedly planning an operation.

He said the suspects Prefateyah Francis, 30, Job Molo Edward, 41, Barine Nwinee, 41 and Edho Kingsley, 44, were caught while planning to launch an attack on an unknown location.

He said a Barretta pistol was recovered from Prefateyah Francis.

Butswat said: “They have volunteered useful information. The suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.

“The Commissioner of Police, Mike Okoli, calls for continued support from members of the public to enable the police to succeed in the arduous task of fighting crime.”
