As the Senate commenced the screening of nominees for appointment as National Commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a copy of a court affidavit has revealed that President Buhari’s Aide and nominee , Lauretta Onochie swore to being a member of the ruling All Progressive’s Congress (APC).
The screening which is ongoing as at the time of filing this report also revealed that in a letter written and submitted by Laurreta herself to the Chairman of the Senate INEC committee, Kabiru Gaya read that she is a member of the APC and Buhari Support Organisation (BSO).
A copy of the court affidavit is among the avalanche of petitions presented by civil society organisations against Lauretta’s nomination.
Onochie arrived at the Senate wing of the National Assembly about 11 am, accompanied by the Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Babajide Omoworare.
She was immediately ushered into the office of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on INEC, Senator Kabiru Gaya.

The PDP said Onochie is a card-carrying member of the ruling All Progressives Congress; and by virtue of her political affiliation with the APC, she is not fit and proper to be appointed as an election officer.
She is currently responding to the petition submitted against her.
