It has been reported that Rev. Timothy Damisa, the slain pastor of the Christian Reformed Church of Nigeria (CRCN), in Baissa, Kurmi LGA of Taraba state, has been laid to rest.
The late Damisa, 45, was shot dead by the gunmen believed to be assassins, who invaded his house in Baissa in the early hours of Monday, July 12.
His wife, Rahab Damisa, said that the gunmen left after ensuring that the pastor was dead.
“When they came in their large number, they kept shooting to scare the entire community and then forced their way into our home. The assailants did not ask for money or anything before shooting him several times.” she said.
The late pastor was laid to rest in his hometown in Wukari Local government Area of Taraba State on Friday, July 16, amidst tears.
Meanwhile, the Christian Reformed Church Nigeria CRC-N has called on government and the intelligence agencies to investigate the brutal killing of the cleric and bring the perpetrators of the act to justice.
Addressing Journalists last Thursday, in Jalingo unbehalf of the church President, the Vice President of CRC-N Rev Dr Isaiah Magaji Jirapye who is also the CAN chairman of Taraba State fervently condemned the inhuman act.
While Condemning the assassination of the Clergy the church expressed great shock and observed that the gruesome act came at a time which the church needed the services of the late clergy the most.
Accordingly the Church is worried by the new trend where criminals or sponsored assassins turned ministers of the gospel in to easy targets as this is not the first time the body of Christ has suffered such a huge loss.
