The gunmen on Monday morning attacked Amarawu village, Dutsinma, where they killed two people and wounded dozens of others.

Over the weekend, gunmen attacked several communities in Matazu council area, where they killed four people, including a village head of Dagul community, Malam Rabi’u Matazu.

One of the bandits, however, met his Waterloo as he was killed by some of the residents who resisted the attack.

Bandits also attacked some communities in Musawa council, where they killed three people and injured several others.

The gunmen carted away household valuables that include money, handsets, foodstuffs, and related items.

They also rustled several domestic animals, especially cows, and set many homes ablaze.

The attacks and other security challenges prompted youths of Yantumaki community, in Dutsinma Local Government Area, to a street protest on Monday.

As at 6:00 am Monday morning, youths in their numbers staged a protest at Yantumaki, where they burnt tires and blocked highway linking Katsina and Kaduna state.

But military operatives who stormed the area were able to clear the road to allow for a smooth flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the police command, SP Gambo Isah, did not respond to inquiries made on the attacks and protests.
