Governor David Umahi on Friday witnessed the solemnization of the holy matrimony between his nephew, Emeka Chris Obi-Umahi, and his soulmate Princess Chimemerigo Ilonze amidst reverence to God for a successful union.
A statement made available by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Francis Nwaze said the wedding ceremony took place at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, the King’s Court, Victoria Island, Lagos, Lagos State.
Speaking at the wedding, Governor Umahi congratulated the couple on the fruition of their love adventures and prayed to God to bless their union.
“Let me congratulate very dearly my son, Emeka, and wife, Princess on their successful wedding today. Let me thank Pastor Ben Akabueze for having us here and for presiding over this beautiful wedding ceremony.
“Our dear inlaw, the Ilonze family, congratulations to all of us for this union.
“Marriage is an Institution that no one has ever graduated and I can assure you that the word Pastor Ben shared with us would have a tremendous impact on the lives of Emeka and Princess Umahi.
“The women must submit to the men, there is no controversy and I think that a lot of the troubled marriages should go back to the law. The women are always the owners of the Children but all we benefit is respect.
“Princess, we are happy to welcome you to our home, I can see you are a very cheerful person, you look exactly like your handsome father and we thank your parents for giving us another wife into our family.”
Governor Umahi also thanked the guests for coming from all walks of life to witness the wedding ceremony.
“On-behalf of Ebonyi State Government and people of Ebonyi, I want to thank the people of Lagos and Ebonyi people that came from Abuja and other places to be with us here today.
“As the father of the State, I speak that the glorious hands of God would continue to rest upon you and your marriage would be a huge success.”
Earlier, the Officiating Clergy, Pastor Ben Nwabueze preaching from John Chapter two, verses one to eleven observed that marriage was ordained by God himself and enjoined the couple to hold on to the word of God for the success of their union.
“If marriage was not important to God Almighty, Jesus wouldn’t have performed his first miracle in a wedding feast. If you want your marriage to succeed, then you have to invite Jesus, you cannot invite Jesus into your marriage if you have not invited him into your personal life.
“In every man’s life, there is a day of trouble, it is not a cause but a reality. You cannot afford not to invite Jesus into your life and marriage because there would be a day of trouble.
“In our lives, we need intercessors who genuinely desire our good. Husbands love your wives as Jesus loved the Church, whatever he says do, do if you want peace in your marriage.
“Understand that what Christ can do will be invariably better than what man can do, if a man can help you, it is okay but it is certainly better what God can do, so, Emeka, Princess, remember this in this your journey of life.”
“Marriage is Honourable by men, therefore, marriage should not be rushed into to satisfy carnal lost. Marriage is ordained to bear Children. Emeka Chris and Princess Chimemerigo have reached that milestone hence they are today joined in holy matrimony.”
