A team of Policemen in Katsina State have successfully foiled activities of terrorists who attacked Kuru and Dangani villages in Musawa Local Government Area (LGA), killing five of the hoodlums while rescuing a kidnapped victim and recovering many animals.
Other items recovered include one (1) AK 47 rifle with seven (7) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a Gulf III car, 81 cows, 64 sheep and a donkey.
Narrating the incident to newsmen while parading the hoodlums at the Command on Friday, the police spokesman in the state, SP Isah Gambo said, they got “a distress call on 10 January 2022 at about 0100 hours that terrorists in their numbers, armed with sophisticated weapons, including AK 47 rifles, riding on motorbikes attacked Kuru village in Musawa LGA and rustled domestic animals.
”Consequently, the Area Commander, Dutsinma, led a team of policemen to their possible exit route, at a spot near Dangani village in Musawa LGA and engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun duel and neutralized five (5) of them, recovered one AK 47 rifle, eighty-one cows, sixty-four sheep and a donkey.”
“Similarly, on the same day, at about 0400hrs, while the team was responding to another distress call, they had an encounter with another group of terrorists, near Dangani town, in the same Musawa LGA, who kidnapped one Alhaji Sule 62, of Dankwari village in Matazu LGA inside a white colour Gulf III motor vehicle, with registration number BKR 367 XA. The police team also engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun duel, causing them to flee abandoning the motor vehicle and leaving the rescued victim unhurt. The Gulf III motor vehicle was recovered as an exhibit and further investigation is ongoing.”
