2023: Atiku Congratulates Tinubu For Clinching APC’s Ticket

Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Bola Tinubu over the latter’s emergence as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 general elections.

Atiku, who is the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party said Tinubu’s victory was a result of his tenacity despite the ‘hard-fought’ contest.

He wrote on Twitter, “Congratulations, @officialABAT, on your emergence as your party’s presidential candidate. It has been a hard-fought contest, but that you prevailed confirms your tenacity. -AA”

Tinubu, on Wednesday, was announced the winner of the presidential primary election of the APC. The former Lagos Governor polled 1,271 votes to beat his major opponents, former transportation minister and ex-Rivers governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who polled 316 and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, who had 235 votes.

In the lead-up to the exercise, seven aspirants stepped down for Tinubu, namely former governors of Ogun and Akwa Ibom states, Ibikunle Amosun and Godswill Akpabio respectively; Governors Kayode Fayemi and Abubakar Badaru of Ekiti and Jigawa states; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole; Senator Ajayi Boroffice; and the only female in the contest, Uju Ken-Ohanenye.
