National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) has frowned at the travel advisories issued by some embassies to their personnel in Nigeria, saying Nigerian security agencies have what it takes to forestall all attacks.

This is even as the Institute noted the proactive measures which have been carried out in short and long terms.

The commandant, NIIS, Ayodele Adeleke disclosed this yesterday during a press conference ahead of the graduation ceremony of the Institute’s Executive Management Course 15 with 78 participants drawn from strategic agencies and five other foreign nationals from African countries.

Speaking on the theme of the course: “Global Climate Challenge: Prospect and Priorities for Economic Development and Conflict Resolution in Africa” Adeleke said the theme was chosen to mitigate the disastrous effect of climate change in Nigeria.

He said the institute invited some technocrats, academia as well as governors, and traditional rulers who brought their perspectives on the theme of the course.

“We’ve actually done a lot of work on that one. And we believe by the end of this month, we’ll be making our executive brief to the federal government of Nigeria.

“Let me assure you, I’m sure all of us are in Abuja and we’ve seen what the security agencies have put in place to forestall attacks.

“The security agencies know what they’re doing. And we assure everybody coming for this programme of security. Everything before, during, and after. There’s going to be adequate security. We’re not working in isolation,” he said.

He added that the institute is working with its counterpart from other security agencies to ensure a smooth and hitch-free occasion.
