Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Abia state chapter, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu has appreciated the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for the comforting fatherly role he played when he made decision to resign as Abia APC Chairman

This is even as Ononogbu declared that the home of the former governor is the home of APC in Abia State.

Addressing a college of ward chairmen of APC during a meeting on Thursday held at Camp Neya, Igbere, the state chairman appreciated Senator Kalu for hosting the meeting of the party faithfuls adding that he is a builder and not a spoiler

He lamented that lack of unity among the stakeholders caused the party losses especially in the last general elections.

According to him, “ I have been working with Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and he has been very supportive to the party. I am specially happy for this meeting because it’s the right thing to do for our party as brothers and sisters. Not being together as a party has caused us a lot and it’s time we realize we can achieve more with togetherness.

“I am also happy we are in the home of APC in Abia State. Where we are today is the home of APC and we must build the party from here. I am from Abia North, the Senator is from Abia North, the House of Representatives member is from Abia North, the minister is from Abia North. We have all we need to make Abia APC stronger . If Abia North is not strengthened in unity, it won’t be good for the state.

Speaking further he said, “ Let me use this opportunity to thank the Distinguished Senator for the support and guidance he has always provided . When I got tired of the too many troubles from different stakeholders and wanted to resign , Senator Kalu encouraged me against resignation and insisted I remain chairman.

“I have been working together with him (Senator Kalu) and he has always said he will do whatever I want and he has done all I have requested him to do. Even Ikechi Emenike told me that as a two term governor, he wields influence and that can’t be changed. “

In his explanation to the party faithfuls he said, “What we are trying to do is to work together such that no one will come to meeting with differences. I am a builder and not a spoiler. I didn’t come with an idea of division but to carry everyone along. We must work together until Congress comes and you can then make your choice according to your wishes.

The meeting also had in attendance the National Welfare Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Donatus Nwankpa; State Chairman of OUK Movement Hon Ojisi Agbaja( Abacha); the five local government chairmen of APC in Abia North; Ward Chairmen in Abia North among many others
