Former Abia State Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has expressed sadness over the death of Dr. Chris Asoluka, a former member of the House of Representatives, who passed away on May 9, 2025, at the age of 70. 
Dr. Asoluka, affectionately known as “Okwuruoha,” died peacefully in Owerri, nine days after celebrating his 70th birthday. He was a renowned development and public policy strategist, politician, and scholar. His family described him as a man of principles, strength, generosity, rare intellect, and profound wisdom, who lived a life rooted in service, compassion, and an unshakeable commitment to family, community, and country.  
Senator Kalu, lauded his contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape and his commitment to national development. He noted that Dr. Asoluka’s legacy would continue to inspire future generations.
“Dr Asoluka was a consummate public servant and a distinguished personality. On behalf of Abia North Senatorial District, I commiserate with his family, loved ones and political associates,” Kalu said.
