Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North Senatorial District and is a former governor of Abia State, has been praised for his legislative accomplishments and sustained influence in national politics.
President General of the Igbo Vanguard Group (IVG), Engr. Dr. James Nnadozie Uchegbuo, described the lawmaker as having earned the status of a “life senator” among his people.
In an exclusive interview with our correspondent in Umuahia, Uchegbuo offered a glowing assessment of Kalu’s performance in the National Assembly. He highlighted Kalu’s consistency in delivering the dividends of democracy through infrastructural projects, youth empowerment programmes, and community development initiatives that have resonated well with constituents.
“Kalu is one of the few senators whose presence is deeply felt in their district. From rural road construction to educational support schemes, his legislative activities reflect an understanding of grassroots governance,” Uchegbuo noted.
He further commended Kalu’s ability to bridge federal influence and local needs, positioning him as a respected voice in both the Senate and among his people.
Uchegbuo also pointed out that Kalu’s legislative record goes beyond physical infrastructure. “He has contributed to national discourse through impactful motions and bills that reflect the interests of his people and the South-East region,” he said. He emphasized that Kalu’s political maturity and experience have enabled him to navigate the complexities of federal politics with notable success.
The IVG leader acknowledged that while no politician can satisfy every constituent, the overwhelming support Kalu enjoys from his senatorial district speaks volumes about his effectiveness. “His people are firmly behind him because they see the work; they feel the impact,” Uchegbuo asserted, adding that Kalu’s political journey is one of consistency and results.
