Ahmed Musa, captain of Super Eagles, has parted ways with Saudi Arabian club, Al Nassr, two years after joining the club.
Musa joined the Saudi side in 2018 from English Premier League side, Leicester City, on a four-year contract.
Despite having two years left on his running contract, the club announced the departure of the former VVV Venlo star on their Twitter handle with a short video.
No reason was given for the termination of the contract by both parties.
“Thank you Nigerian falcon, wishing you all the best in the future! @Ahmedmusa718,” the club said on their Twitter page.
The announcement confirmed earlier reports that the 28-year-old was set to leave the club, which he denied.
Musa has been linked with a move to Turkish club Fenerbahce this summer despite a below par campaign with Al Nassr.
The former Kano Pillars forward failed to find the back of the net in 17 league appearances this season and also watched as the Riyadh club lost the championship to bitter rivals Al Hilal.
In his two years stint at the club, the Eagles captain won the 2019 Saudi Arabia League and scored seven goals in 24 appearances that season.
