Senate Chief Whip and former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has resumed his legislative duties at the National Assembly.
Kalu has been in his Abia-North Senatorial constituency following the adjournment of the Senate plenary for 19 days to enable the lawmakers proceed on Easter break.
Prior to the adjournment Senator Kalu had proceeded to his constituency where he spent weeks assessing and commissioning numerous developmental projects he facilitated in his first year and first time at the Senate.
The Chief Whip had during his one month stay inspected 19 road projects he expedited to his Senatorial zone, Kalu also assessed their different levels of completion and progress.
Other projects inspected by the former Governor include ; renovation of 50 primary school blocks,motorised borehole water projects among others.
On Tuesday the Chief Whip arrived at the Senate wing of the National Assembly at 9:00 am an hour before the plenary resumption, to the warm embrace of his colleagues. Kalu was also hailed by staff and visitors at the entrance of the National Assembly as he made his way to the Senators reception room.
Some of Kalu’s colleagues whilst exchanging pleasantries also lauded him for the number of projects he attracted to his constituents despite being a first time Senator at the National Assembly.
As the Senate resumes to continue its legislative duties, the Chief Whip is expected to expedite action on 22 additional road projects to his constituency as contained in the 2021 appropriation , according to the Chief Whip the equipping of the 50 schools he renovated would remain a top priority for him in addition to the reconstruction and equipping of hospitals among other projects.
