The Presidency has sanctioned the decision by the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Office, Col. Milland Dikio (rtd), to audit the 30,000 ex-agitators captured under the programme in the last 11 years.
Consequently, Dikio has set up a 10-man committee of “PAP Think-Thank” with a mandate to enrich, monitor and propagate the new roadmap of the office to reposition and ensure that the new policies were loccalised.
A member of the Strategic Committee of PAP, Comrade Tonye Bobo, who confirmed the development yesterday during a call on members of the Federated Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ, Bayelsa State Council, clarified that the verification was not a witch-hunt, but a strategic way to verify those captured and the ones still left out of the project.
He added that the exercise had also received the backing of the ex-militant leaders in the region.
