Constitution Review: Dr. Chidia Charges Abians,Southeast on Active Participation

Following calls by the senate committee on the amendment of the 1999 constitution, for total southeast stakeholders participation during the public hearing the Managing Director of the Nigerian film corporation; Dr Chidia Maduekwe being an advocate for national development and also from the south eastern region has added his voice to corroborate the importance of public participation.

In a statement made on his official twitter handle, Dr Chidia called on Nigerians from the eastern Origin especially those from his immediate constituent; Abia State to fully participate at the public hearing.
According to the tweet, “I urge the good people of the south east to participate actively in zonal public hearing on the review of the 1999 constitution scheduled to hold today Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27 may 2021 in imo state. Active citizenry is key to nations development”.

Recall that the Senate Committee on the review of the 1999 constitution led by the chief whip of the senate; Senator Orji Uzor Kalu having slated Wednesday and Thursday 26th and 27th May 2021 for the southeast Zonal public hearing of the constitution review at Owerri in imo state urged stakeholders from the South East to be fully involved

The public hearing is expected to have in attendance, representatives of different state governments, political parties, state legislature, local government councils, traditional rulers, town unions, union leaders, people with disability and youth leaders along with a memoranda of 10 hard copies and a soft copy to be submitted at the venue.
