Former House of Representatives member in the 8th National Assembly, Hon. Emeka Ujam and his wife , Dr (Mrs) Noyelum Ujam who marked 17 years anniversary of their marriage on Friday, August 29, 2020 had in attendance Chief Whip of the Senate and former Governor of Abia state, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu ; family, friends and well wishers who came to felicitate with the couple on their new lease of life.
This is even as Honourable Ujam showered praises on Kalu for his prowess and courage in carrying out his national duties, calling him the most detribalized Nigerian
This Newspaper also recalls that Honourable Ujam , a one time commissioner for lands in Enugu state during the government of Sullivan Chime has also been rumoured to be among the prominent choices to replace Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in 2023.
Speaking during the colorful anniversary in Abuja , Ujam specially thanked the Senate Chief for sparing time amidst his busy schedules to honour his family.
He said “Kalu’s presence has ingrained an indelible memory on the minds of the family and guests that equally attended the anniversary. ”
He defined Kalu as ebullient , vibrant, friendly and a man of the people. He said he was happy to see Kalu identify with his young family , adding that he remains one of the few Igbo men who are large hearted in their actions.
According to him , ” His Excellency remains one of the few Igbo men who identifies with everyone. While he was in prison, people who visited him told stories of his courage and how he never jilted.
“I am overwhelmed by your personality and candour. Over time, you have stood firm for the Igbo and you are the man the entire Igbo nation are looking forward for leadership.
“The sentiment of the Northerners on you is also overwhelming and dignifying. You are the most detribalized living Nigerian. On behalf of my family, friends and well wishers present here , we urge you to be encouraged in standing firm in the things you believe are right ” He said
Ujam while wishing Kalu well , stated that his family will continue to pray for him
Addressing the young couple, Kalu commended the couple for achieving great heights together in the past 17 years
” We should commend you for God’s protection and care. It is heart-warming to learn that both of have been married for 17 years and it is a good reason to thank God. My prayer is that God will continue to bless and keep you to fulfill your missions on earth . In marriages , there are partnerships made in heaven and yours is one . I wish you happy wedding anniversary and God’s protection.” the Senate Chief Whip said .
