The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, had earlier directed that all aviation agencies relocate their headquarters from Lagos to Abuja within 45 days. This directive is in order with the Federal Government’s 2012 plan to relocate all corporate headquarters to Abuja and in line with the current economic realities.

The stakeholders (operators and service providers) assert that such relocation is not in the interest of the Public. The directive was described as  “political and not in the best interest of the sector at this time of economic distress.”

They further stated that  “the move, besides satisfying private interests of a few, has a wrong timing that will cost the Federal Government more in scarce resources.”
