Following the order by Justice Mohammed Liman of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court yesterday, to immediately release a former governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, from the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service , journalists, photographers on Wednesday early morning besieged Kuje correctional centre for a first hand photo of the Senate Chief Whip who have been out of public sight for the past six months.

The Nigeria Daily gathered that Editors of top media houses have since yesterday mounted pressures on the Kuje Correctional Centre management to release date and time that the former Governor would leave Kuje.

However, the security personnels are yet to grant the newsmen access to the centre as they insisted on receiving no orders to do so.

Yesterday, The Public Relation Officer of the Service, Augustine Njoku, told The Nigeria Daily unless the Court ruling is transmitted to the service, the former governor would not be released..

Njoku said: “We cannot act on the basis of radio or television announcement on a Court order or ruling. The ruling will be communicated to us in form of warrant. This would be acknowledged and all other protocols and procedures would be followed.

  1. Yawhwe forbid abomination that is daily committed by the Nigeria judiciary. By the way who is talking for the down trodden citizenry of Abia State whose treasury was siphoned by their two past Governors. What I am interested in is not those thieves being incastrated but in the recovery of the peoples stolen funds.
