The Presidential Task Force, PTF, on COVID-19 has asserted that more Nigerians will die of COVID-19.

This disclosure was made by the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, during the daily press briefing of the task force on Thursday. He stated that as the cases increase it is only normal to expect more deaths.

“The increasing number of positive cases means that the fatality rate will increase,” also on the issue of resident doctors, Dr Ehanire, mentioned that “Some doctors are working really hard; doing double shift,” Dr. Osagie Ehanire disclosed

“I do believe and I’m sure they (resident doctors) would reconsider their actions.

“I had a brief meeting with the resident doctors today. They have some grievances they want us to address.”

In regards to why lockdown was eased despite increase in cases, the Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu, said

“We relaxed the lockdown not because COVID-19 has gone, but to ensure the economy does not collapse.

“We would not sit back and allow public safety to be endangered by a few people,” He said
