Pope Francis on Thursday ordained
Monsignor Michael Kalu Ukpong, the First Auxiliary Bishop of Umuahia Diocese at an extraordinary mass held at Mater Dei Cathedral Umuahia.

The Pope, represented by the Apostolic/Papal Nuncio to Nigeria, His Excellency, Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi led tens of Bishops to officiate the ceremony

In attendance were the Senate Chief Whip and former Governor of Abia state, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu ; Governor of Abia state Dr Okezie Ikpeazu represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu; Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano representated by his Chief of Staff, Chief Primus Odili; Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu and other top government officials.
