Kalu visits Kuje, Spends N4.9 M to light up Church, Mosque

Chief whip of the Senate and former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on Saturday paid an unscheduled visit to the Kuje correctional center,Abuja.

Kalu who arrived the correctional centre at about 1pm , inspected the lightening project which is extended to both the churches and mosques to enhance the worship as well as other daily activities of both the inmates and the staff.

The lightening project is reported to cost over 4.9 million naira , Kalu who spoke with some staffs reiterated his commitment to reforms as well as welfare of the correcional centre.

Kalu’s arrival erupted joy amongst both the inmates and staff, with many of them chanting “Kalu for President 2023” . Many of the imates hailed his continued welfare initiatives despite leaving the correctinal centre.

Some of the staffs and inmates who spoke in annonimity, expressed their desire for the Senate Chief become the next Nigerian President in 2023, regardless of any party . The excited inmates described Kalu as true nationalist who carries the welfare of all Nigerians at heart.

Recall that , Senator Kalu spent six months incarcerated at the Kuje correctional centre , the Supreme Court had nullified the conviction of Kalu.

Justice Amina Augie who led a seven-man panel of Justices held that the trial Justice Mohammed Liman Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos acted without jurisdiction.
