At least four people were killed – and one more is still missing – after a Turkish fishing boat collided with a cargo ship off the southern Turkish coastline, local authorities said on Wednesday.

The accident with the Greek-registered cargo ship happened at 5:50 am (0250 GMT), about 15 nautical miles off the southern city of Adana, according to the Adana governor’s office.

A total of five people are believed to have been on board the capsized fishing boat, the governor’s office added.

A rescue team of three boats and a diving team are still trying to find the missing person off Adana’s Karatas district, the Turkish coastguard said in a separate statement.
