Abia: Thousands of PDP members tear party cards, decamp to APC in Arochukwu LG

Thousands of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Abia State in one of the state’s largest communities, Arochukwu, in Arochukwu Local Government Area (LGA) at the weekend, tore their party member cards and switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC)

The leaders and members of the PDP in Arochukwu, ward 2, at the presence of Senate Chief Whip and south East APC leader , Senator Orji Uzor Kalu dumped the party, endorsing and collapsing all their structures to the APC

Former member House of Representatives, Hon. Nnanna Ngwu , who led the decamping PDP members, said it became necessary to follow Chief Whip of the Senate and Abia former governor to the APC owing to the fact that they want to be part of the progressives movement in Abia state

According to Ngwu : “We cannot stay in a different party with Senator Orji Uzor Kalu especially with what he has been doing for Abia North. We are happy to come to the APC because that is the right place to be. Our allegiance henceforth is to the party and you can see the level of happiness our people have expressed towards the APC and to our Distinguished Senator Kalu .

In addition, Hon. Ngwu said he decided to lead thousands of his supporters to the APC to support the Senator because of his developmental agenda for the larger Abia people against the few individuals who continue to strive for personal benefits rather than the good of the larger majority of the people.
